Community Finance Solutions
Community Finance Solutions is a consulting and referral service that supports initiatives creating new impact investing funds and financial products. Our vision is a vibrant marketplace of effective impact investing funds and innovative financial products in communities across Canada, pooling and placing capital to create social and environmental impact.
In 2014, Community Finance Solutions announced our second cohort of initiatives, after having opened applications for our second cohort with a webinar on social finance and housing. If you missed this launch webinar for our second cohort, click here to view it in its entirety.
This program is not currently accepting new clients.
Our clients are individuals and organisations working to launch new impact investing funds or innovative financial products across Canada. We work with high-potential projects that are beyond the ideation stage.

- Strategy advisory
- Project management

Early-stage initiatives receive a package of 20 hours of advisory supports and 6 months of coaching. We plug them into a network of experts, peers, and coaches to help them refine, test, and launch their initiatives. Later-stage initiatives with the potential to launch within a year receive tailored, targeted support. We provide the supports they need when they need them to bring their initiatives to market.
Impact investing thought leaders and practitioners across the country provide strategic oversight to the program and are involved in identifying and selecting clients.
We partner with well-respected national firms who are leaders in impact investing. They can provide services to our clients at a consistently high quality in communities across Canada.
We partner with service providers across the country with expertise in impact investing. Partners we have worked with in the past include Purpose Capital, Jackson Martin, SHS Consulting, SkyLaw, and Robins Appleby LLP.
Program costs for participants depend on the stage of the enterprise, as well as the scope and scale of work.
We are able to provide a defined amount of pro bono and reduced cost support for select initiatives. We are grateful that our partners are able to donate time and expertise so that we can lower the barriers to entry for new projects. Our objective with early-stage initiatives is to help them refine their concepts and build support so that they can secure funds for further development.
As initiatives are able to pay for services and/or the scope of work is more significant, there is a greater resource commitment required and an associated cost. Accordingly, we regularly partner with or make referrals to other service providers to generate business for them and build local social finance ecosystems. We connect initiatives to the specific supports they need when they need them in order to get their funds and products launched.
