Small and Growing Businesses: Investing in the Missing Middle for Poverty Alleviation

ANDE released a working paper, ‘Small and Growing Businesses: Investing in the Missing Middle for Poverty Alleviation’ at the 3rd Anniversary Celebration in London, on March 27th, 2012. The paper is an extensive review of the literature on SGBs and poverty, and identifies areas for new research to build a stronger evidence base for ANDE’s core theory of change. We hope the review will be useful for academics and practitioners to better understand the state of research on this topic and drive more rigorous analysis on the question Does growth in SGBs lead to growth of prosperity for poor people in emerging market countries?
