World Vision and MaRS launch Social Innovation Challenge
Young minds are brilliant minds. That’s why MaRS Centre for Impact Investing has teamed up with World Vision and Grand Challenges Canada to launch an entrepreneurship competition for students and recent graduates. The World Vision Social Innovation Challenge aims to find young people with a business idea that could tackle some of the world’s most difficult development challenges and help them make it a reality.
The competition will award up to $35,000 in seed funding for the winning team, together with a year of support and advisory services to market test their concept.
World Vision has come up with two challenges – supplying clean water and improving healthcare for populations in need – and is inviting young innovators to submit their solutions online.
Over the summer the top 10 teams will be put through an intensive entrepreneurship bootcamp by experts at MaRS who will help them develop their concept into a viable business model.
They will then go head-to-head pitching their idea to a panel of judges. The panel will decide which idea receives seed funding to put it on the road to making a difference to lives around the world.
